MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Family Engagement Coordinator is responsible for recruiting, enrolling, and engaging families in Inspiring Minds’ KidsBridge Summer Learning Program. This position is grant-funded for Summer 2026.
KidsBridge Responsibilities
This position supports recruitment, enrollment, and engagement in our KidsBridge summer learning program. In the spring, the Family Engagement Coordinator coordinates the recruitment and enrollment of students by attending school and city events, staffing the office for walk-in registrations, and following up on enrollment paperwork. During the summer learning program, the coordinator supports families in understanding the school norms, policies, protocols, and routines to prepare themselves for their child to begin kindergarten. In addition, the Family Engagement Coordinator will support the attendance data collection and follow-up to ensure the program meets agreed-upon deliverables. More than 65% of our targeted enrollment is Spanish speaking; therefore, the position requires oral and written fluency in Spanish and English.
Recruitment and Enrollment (April-June)
- Actively recruit qualified children to the summer program through various methods, including but not limited to tabling at community events, recruiting at the registration office and community agencies, phone calls, text messages, information sessions, and written communication.
- Work to meet the enrollment targets on which program funding is based.
- Facilitate family information sessions at convenient times for parent participation.
- Manage the electronic registration system, enrollment packets, and student database.
- Schedule and conduct interviews by phone, zoom, or in-person with every enrolled family to ensure all enrollment paperwork is completed, they are aware of KidsBridge policies and procedures, their goals are recorded for the summer teacher, and they are positioned to attend KidsBridge regularly.
- Respond to phone and walk-in registrations. Communicate the enrollment system to other staff and interns so they may support families as well.
- Understand all program policies and protocols. Attend all required staff trainings, including CPR/1st Aid, and those scheduled during the week of June 29-July 2.
Summer Program Responsibilities (July and August)
- Manage family communication, including answering the primary KidsBridge mobile phone line (including texts) and email address.
- Greet families on site. Authentically engage in the program.
- Support the program’s administration in organizing the forward-facing sign-in/out area.
- Ensure families know the norms, policies, protocols, and school routines.
- Work with site staff to develop meaningful opportunities for families to support their children as they enter kindergarten.
- Develop a weekly newsletter for families.
- Research community resources and support for families
- Plan and implement the mid-summer and end-of-summer family event in collaboration with the KidsBridge team.
- Manage the student database. Communicate all changes to classroom staff. Create and distribute weekly rosters.
- Accurately enter attendance data daily. Make follow-up calls for absent students daily.
- Document absences and family engagement efforts in our database.
- Respond to challenges that arise with family engagement and attendance, developing open systems of communication with the KidsBridge administrative team and teachers.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

- Establish and maintain appropriate relationships with students, parents, staff, school personnel, and community members with tact, courtesy, and confidentiality.
- Maintain a professional appearance and demonstrate behavior that is conscientious and responsible.
- Do not engage in discriminatory practices, including race, origin, gender, socio-economic status, disability, religion, or political beliefs.
- Support our families as our students’ first teachers and role models. Research and inform parents of programs that will help their child and opportunities available for the adult members of the family.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Fluency in Spanish and English is required (written and verbal)
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- Background in community engagement, social work, or education highly valued
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Organized and attentive to detail

- Skilled at lifting up the power and promise of marginalized groups vs. focusing on the problems and pathologies put on them by the dominant society.
- Excellent verbal and written communication in Spanish and English.
- Basic computer skills required. Must be able to produce documents, flyers, and presentations in English and Spanish. Must be able to manage spreadsheets containing student registrations.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with co-workers, vendors, students, parents, the general public, and others having business with Inspiring Minds

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Attend and actively participate in pre-service training and staff meetings.
- Must be able to pass background clearance checks.
- May be required to work outside normal working hours, such as on weekends or evenings.
- Participate in additional activities, including recruitment events, field trips, daily enrichment time, parent-engagement events, and other required programs as needed throughout the program.
- Submit bi-weekly timesheet for approval.
