What Is Power Lunch?

Power Lunch is our most popular group volunteer opportunity for businesses and corporations looking to become more involved in the Providence community. Power Lunch is a mentoring program that matches groups of volunteers from the public and private sector one-to-one with elementary school children, to encourage students to develop a love of school through shared experiences with caring individuals

In Power Lunch, mentors from local businesses and nonprofits meet with students during their lunch period to build strong relationships that lead to a growth mindset and better school attendance. These 30-minute weekly sessions expose students to different people from all aspects of the business world, from IT, to nursing, customer service, and engineering. By developing relationships with individuals in different vocational fields and careers, we hope to expand young peoples’ imaginations and expose them to a variety of future possibilities.
